Summer Teams 2012

Do something amazing for God this summer…

 
In 2012 LMI will be sending three summer teams overseas. The first will be to the Philippines in June, the second to Serbia in July and the third to the Andaman Islands in August. Make sure you don’t miss out on a truly unforgettable experience and an incredible opportunity to make an impact for God’s kingdom!
 
Philippines
The team to the Philippines will be going in June and will be involved in evangelistic work, feeding programme, hospital visits, prison ministry, visiting an unreached people group (Agta tribe), children's ministry, and church work. It will be a unique cross-cultural experience working with local pastors and believers under the direction of LMI's coordinator for South East Asia who is a missionary in the Philippines and is married to a Filipino believer (they have two children). The approximate cost for this trip will be £1500-£1800 per person.
 
Andaman Islands
The mission trip to the Andaman Islands will be taking place in August and will be focused on work in two children's homes run by Pastor Varughese Matthew. Pastor Varughese founded the Indian Christian Fellowship, which the children's homes operate under, and LMI has partnered with this work in supporting them since 2005. One of these homes was established after the tsumani in 2004 as a result of the disaster which devastated the islands. The team will spend a week in each children's home doing bible stories and activities with the children. At the moment we are also in the process of negotiating a pastor's conference for the national missionaries on the islands and we hope to be able to do some work with the children of these pastors and missionaries. The approximate cost for this trip will be £1250-£1500 per person.
Part of the team (those gifted in a teaching ministry) will conduct the pastor’s conference while other team members will be involved in the children’s programme.
 
Serbia
The programme in Serbia in July will involve children's work and English teaching and a possible conference/retreat for pastors and their families. The children's work will take the form of Holiday Bible Club ministry with basic English teaching incorporated, and will take place in the church of LMI’s contact in Serbia, Pastor Zoltan Nyul. We plan to offer more advanced English classes to the adults of the village that the church is situated in. We hope that those team members who are able will conduct meetings for the pastors and their wives and those gifted in children’s work will run a programme for the pastor’s children. The approximate cost of this trip will be £600-£800 per person.
 
Further Details
One or two staff members from LMI will be leading each team. Training will be provided beforehand and a team reunion and debrief some time after each team’s return. Although it is not compulsory, we want to encourage team members who are able to raise funds towards the ministry their team will be involved in. (This would be in addition to the cost of going.) However, if this is not possible for some individuals we do not want this to be a stumbling block for them to join a summer team.
 
Our summer teams will offer a great experience in mission work and we trust that it will encourage team members to have a life-long passion for mission. Those team members that are willing to do so may also have the opportunity to share about their experiences at LMI Mission Awareness events to inspire others to be actively involved in fulfilling the Great Commission.
